Can you recommend some things to do in Borth-y-Gest?

Borth-y-Gest sits in a fantastic spot on the southeastern end of the Llyn Peninsula, sandwiched between two ancient castles and just a few miles from the beauty of Eryri – Snowdonia National Park. Needless to say, there are lots of things to see and do! Here are a few of our favourites:
Take a seat back in time aboard the Welsh Highland Railway – there’s a range of different routes with breathtaking panoramas of both mountain and coast. 
Pretend you’re strolling the streets of a quaint Cinque Terre or Amalfi Coast village at Portmeirion – a colourful and picturesque paradise with beautiful gardens.  
Visit the neighbouring town of Criccieth with its stunning scenery and pastel-painted houses. Be sure to enjoy lunch or dinner at Dylan’s.

What are the best beaches in and around Borth-y-Gest?

Borth-y-Gest has a small beach area immediately in front of the Victorian terraces, but if it’s wide open spaces you’re after, we suggest heading to the nearby Black Rock Sands or Harlech Beach, which is backed by the Grade I Listed Medieval castle of the same name.

Food & Drink

Although Borth-y-Gest does not have multiple food and drink options you are on the Llyn Peninsula that has plenty of food and drink establishments. Some of our favourite spots include Dylans in Cricceith which is on the waterfront in a beautiful building designed by the famous Kyff Williams-Ellis.

For a more lively atmosphere head to Black Rock Beach Club where you can enjoy some lovely food and a cocktail to boot.

In Borth-y-Gest itself you have Bae Borth Deli Bar as well as Seaview Cafe and Bistro. Both are worth a visit serving up delicious food and drinks.

Things to Do

Overlooking the Cambrian Coast, taking a walk along the coastal footpath is an absolute must. You also have beaches galore and a visit to the expansive Black Rock Sands is quite impressive.

If you are looking for a day trip out we’d recommend heading to Porthmadog and jumping on the Welsh Highland Railway. The train journey takes you through the breathtaking Snowdonia and you will see some incredible views on the journey.
