Nefyn

Explore Nefyn

Nefyn is a seaside town on the northwest coast of the Llyn Peninsula boasting a sheltered harbour, dramatic coastline, links golf course, and the world-famous Ty Coch Inn.

The two villages, both with their own beaches, Nefyn and Morfa Nefyn, are not to be mixed up. Nefyn beach spans over two miles of golden sandy beaches before heading around the headland into Morfa Nefyn, another stretching sheltered beach, before coming to the small bay of Porthdinllaen, where the world-famous beachside pub Ty Coch can be found. Looking up the Coastline, you’ll see the impressive peaks of Yr Eifl climbing out of the Caernarfon Bay waters.

Food & Drink

With plenty of spots to grab a bite to eat or drink, you’re never far from your next refreshment when in Nefyn. Sat between Nefyn and Morfa Nefyn is Y Beyncynan pub, which serves traditional pub grub and cask ales. A must-visit when in Nefyn is Ty Coch Inn, at the end of Porthdinllaes, which is a great reward after a walk along the beach or headland to reach it. For evening food, The Cliffs in Morfa Nefyn offers a great outdoor terrace to bask in the sun with a refreshing drink at the end of the long day. A visit to Cwrw Llyn Tap Room will serve you a fantastic craft ale and give you a great insight into how the local ale is brewed.

Things to Do

For golfers, Nefyn’s 27-hole championship layout offers some of the best views a golf course can offer. For walkers, the headland around the gold course is spectacular, stretching out into the Irish Sea with views across to Anglesey and down the Llyn to Ireland.

With three beaches, Nefyn, Morfa Nefyn, and Portdinllaen, all next to each other, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a quiet spot to get away from the crowds. A short way up the coast is the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre Nant Gwrtheyrn, where you can visit the cafe and explore the site’s private beach and woodland walks.

With a strong maritime history, the recently reopened Llyn Maritime Museum provides great insight into the close connection between the Llyn and the ocean.
