Accommodation in Church Bay

Our Church Bay Cottages

Situated on Anglesey’s north coast, Church Bay is the epitome of rugged romance. Known as Porth Swtan in Welsh, the area was named by early 19th-century sailors who used the village’s church as a landmark.

A scenic stretch of shingle and sand backed by steep cliffs, the beach is perfect for blustery dog walks and bracing summertime swims. While there is little more than a quaint cluster of stone buildings here, one of them is a seafood restaurant with far-reaching renown and another is a cafe known for its oversized scones dripping with clotted cream and jam. Our Church Bay cottages promise the ultimate secluded seaside escape.

Church Bay is in a secluded and unspoilt location, meaning there aren’t a great deal of things to do other than walk along the beach, drink in the views and relax. Discover the Swtan Heritage Museum, marvel over giant scones at Wavecrest Cafe and perhaps discover the beauty of Carreglwyd Estate nearby.

Is Church Bay Beach Anglesey dog-friendly?

Yes! Church Bay is a completely dog-friendly beach, but keep in mind that from May to September you’ll need to stick to the far side of the beach with your four-legged friends.

Where can I park in Church Bay Anglesey?

Each of our Church Bay holiday cottages offer private parking. If you want to park closer to the beach or you’re simply visiting the area, you can find a small carpark at the top of the path down to the beach.

What are the best places for food and drink in Church Bay?

Despite it only being a cluster of a few buildings, Church Bay is home to the Wavecrest Cafe and The Lobster Pot restaurant, two beloved Anglesey icons.

Food & Drink

The Lobster Pot and Wavecrest Cafe are in the heart of Church Bay, offering some of the finest seafood on Anglesey. The Church Bay Inn sits on top of the hill overlooking the Irish Sea. Things to Do

Situated right in the heart of the Anglesey Coastal Footpath, Church Bay is the perfect starting point to explore up to Cemlyn Nature Reserve and onto Cemaes Bay for a bite to eat in The Stag. Llynnon Mill is a must-visit. Home to the famous Mon Donuts, it’s a brilliant day out with the family.
