Meet the Team Behind Oyster Holiday Cottages

The Matthews Brothers

William and Jack have been involved in the holiday lettings business for almost all their lives. They cut their teeth in a family-owned agency covering North Wales, where they had different roles: Jack oversaw the day-to-day operations of the business as managing director, while William focused on marketing and growth as commercial director.

The time then came for the family to part ways with their company, which merged with one of the UK’s largest letting agencies. Jack joined that agency and rose through the ranks to become a regional director, while William moved into luxury travel and events.

Five years down the line, William and Jack felt it was time to apply their wide experience to a new project – creating a brand new agency to make optimal use of their local and national knowledge, their personal skills and their deep understanding of the latest marketing and management techniques. Seeing a gap in the market for an agency that offered owners a full and personalised service, while also using their local experience to offer rental guests a five-star experience, they launched Oyster Holiday Cottages with a full menu of management and concierge services for both property owners and their guests.

William Matthews

William is a water baby, and in his spare time can be found sailing his Fife in Beaumaris, kite-boarding in Rhosneigr or trying to beat his personal record for climbing all 14 of Wales’ 3,000-feet mountain peaks. Married to Emily, a yoga and pilates instructor, William has a young son, Cosmo.

Jack Matthews

Jack is a passionate country man and a keen fly-fisherman. Often found exploring the coasts of Anglesey to fish for bass, he also helps out from time to time on his father’s beef cattle farm in the Llyn peninsula. Jack is married to Millie, an experienced events planner, and they have two young children, Maisie and Paddy.
