From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a very special experience. The lodge sits in a beautiful, elegant landscape, while the interior is decorated in a bold and distinctive style, full of personality. It was the perfect place to spend a long weekend, with every possible comfort thoughtfully provided. We are looking forward to coming back next year!

We had such a lovely stay at Liongate Lodge. It’s tucked away on a private estate, so it’s incredibly peaceful — the perfect spot to really switch off. The interiors are gorgeous and full of thoughtful touches; it feels stylish but still really cosy.
We spent our evenings soaking in the hot tub, enjoying the garden with the sounds of wildlife, whilst watching the sunset — absolute bliss. After a long walk on the local Sandstone Trail the bathroom was the perfect place to unwind. So relaxing, so calm, and just the right amount of luxury. We didn’t want to leave!

Mere miles from the border into North Wales, Liongate Lodge sits within the Bolesworth Estate in Tattenhall, Cheshire. Famed for the iconic Bolesworth Castle, the lodge shares the same grounds as the castle, events venue and equestrian arena, but is far enough away from the action that you can simply soak up the peace and quiet.
From your doorstep, there are lots of things to see, do and enjoy. The Sandstone Trail, a popular long-distance walking path, is just a short journey away and can be accessed from The Pheasant Inn at Tattenhall. The entire trail is almost 34 miles long, but stunning segments that you should head for include Beeston Castle and Bulkeley Hill. If the more leisurely pursuits are your thing, head for The Spa at Carden Park (11 mins away by car) for an award-winning experience, or discover The Hollies Farm Shop, which has become an iconic institution of luxury homewares and artisanal produce, is just 14 miles away in Tarporley. The Roman city of Chester is worth the 25-minute trip, with fascinating Roman ruins, stunning timber-frame architecture and endless shopping outlets.
When you’ve come this close to the border, it would also be a sin not to venture into Oyster’s native North Wales. The stunning coastal destinations of Conwy and Llandudno are only an hour away, while Snowdonia, Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula also beckon with spellbinding scenery and beautiful beaches.
