Porth Padrig

Anglesey

Porth Padrig is a secluded cove on Anglesey’s northern coast, reached along the Wales Coast Path near Llanbadrig. Its small sandy beach is framed by rugged cliffs and is famous for the striking quartzite sea stack known as the White Lady, or Ladi Wen. With its wild setting, fascinating geology and links to St Patrick, it’s one of North Wales’ most atmospheric hidden beaches.

Plan Your Visit to Porth Padrig

Porth Padrig is best reached on foot, with paths descending from the surrounding coast. A nearby car park provides access to the coastal route, but facilities at the cove itself are very limited. The beach can be visited as part of the Cemaes to Llanbadrig walk, and dogs are welcome, although leads are required on the coast path.

Why is Porth Padrig named after St Patrick?

How do you get to Porth Padrig Beach?

The cove is reached via paths from the surrounding Wales Coast Path, with access down towards the sand.

Is Porth Padrig suitable for children?

It can be fascinating for older children who enjoy exploring beaches and geology, but the access involves uneven paths and rocky terrain.

Are dogs allowed at Porth Padrig?

Yes, although dogs should be kept on leads while walking along the coast path.

Are there facilities at Porth Padrig?

The cove itself is remote and has few facilities, so it is sensible to bring water and refreshments with you.
