The Best Beachside Cottages on Anglesey

A rugged island off the coast of North Wales, Anglesey is famed for its beaches. With a coastline of around 140 miles, both locals and visitors alike are spoilt for choice. Newborough Beach and Nature Reserve is a stunning spot complete with a tidal island and vast pine forest, while countless secret coves with shingle shorelines sit beside pretty fishing villages. If you’re seeking a scenic North Wales break with blustery beach walks, BBQs and unforgettable sunsets, you’ve come to the right place. Find holiday cottages by the beach on Anglesey in our guide below.

Sleep steps from the shore in Glan Y Don, Moelfre

Sleeps 6 | Pet-Friendly | Characterful

Glan y Don has the feel of an old fisherman’s cottage with the added benefit of spacious interiors, a well-equipped kitchen and a huge fireplace with an inviting wood-burning stove. There’s even a small decking area at the back, which overlooks the rooftop out across the sea. This property is the perfect place to live out your fishing village fantasies, with the village of Moelfre being a former fishing port and having an extensive maritime past.

Our perfect day here begins with a sunrise dip in the crystalline waters opposite the cottage before a walk up to the RNLI Moelfre Lifeboat Station and the Old Fisherman’s Cottages beyond. After exploring the local area, we’d head to Ann’s Pantry for great cake before enjoying sundowners on the sea view terrace.

Admire stunning views over the strait at Hiraethog, Menai Bridge

Sleeps 8 | Pet-Friendly | Contemporary

Adjacent to the final arch on the Anglesey side of Telford’s Menai Suspension Bridge, Hiraethog is a spectacular property. While more waterside than beachside, Hiraethog is perfectly located for exploring the boutiques, restaurants and attractions of Menai Bridge. If you want to get to know the strait itself even better, you can take a ride with local adventure company RibRide, who will whisk you around the island at adrenaline-inducing speeds.

How would we enjoy a break here? Follow the coastal path which runs from Beach Road alongside the Swellies (a dangerous but incredibly scenic stretch of the strait between the two bridges) and reward yourself with a Dylan’s for dinner.

Enjoy the sandy shores of Trearddur Bay at Rockside

Sleeps 12 | Pet-Friendly | Showstopper

It doesn’t get much more impressive than Rockside. The epitome of beachside bliss, this six-bedroom holiday property boasts it’s own private headland with spellbinding sunset views. Spacious, elegant and recently refurbished to a very high standard, guests can enjoy beautiful interiors with mesmerising sea views.

We’d waste no time elsewhere during a stay at this property, however we’d probably venture to The Stores, an Italian-inspired deli nearby, for wine, nibbles and other delicious goods. For an extra-special evening, why not take advantage of our private chef services.

Drink in sparkling sea views from your terrace at Sea Spray

Sleeps 4 | Pet-Friendly | Cosy & Compact

Sea Spray takes us back to the maritime village of Moelfre, where a sun-trap terrace boasts infinite sea views. Offering a village-centre location and plenty to see and do from the doorstep, this seaside apartment is perfect for exploring the island. We’d while away the days here by discovering the countless beaches nearby, before returning to Moelfre for fish & chips, and settling in front of the log-burner with a good book.

Wander along a Blue Flag beach at Y Lleiaf

Sleeps 5 | No Pets | Convenient

Just 200 yards from the perfect cove of Porth Dafarch, Y Lleiaf is a cosy, coastal-themed bolthole with space for five guests. Sitting in a scenic spot at the end of a row of terraced cottages, it sits in a sunny spot on the south-west coast and is perfect for surf trips. Discover the nearby village of Trearddur Bay, or venture slightly further afield to Rhosneigr, where you’ll usually find kitesurfers and windsurfers playing in the bay.

An ideal day here would begin on the beach would include rockpooling on the beach, sundowners on the rocks and perhaps a trip to nearby Rhoscolyn for a tipple or two at The White Eagle, a rumoured favourite of Prince William.
