House
Wooden beams, an apple orchard, sheep in the fields and the Menai Strait stretching out towards Eryri. Barras is a traditional cottage in the countryside just outside Brynsiencyn, offering a peaceful base for exploring this corner of Anglesey.
Inside, the cottage has a warm, characterful feel, with exposed wooden features running through the open-plan living and dining space. Patio doors open onto the private garden, where you can sit outside and take in the view across the Strait to the mountains beyond. There's also a sunny entrance room, a classic country cottage kitchen and two spacious bedrooms, making this a good-sized base for four.
Ground Floor
Sunroom
The front entrance leads into a sunny little room with windows all around and a small sofa, making it a handy spot to sit with your morning coffee or return to after a walk. There's space for coats and shoes, while double doors open onto the front drive and views across the surrounding fields, with the mountains visible beyond.
Open-plan Living Room/ Dining Room
The main living space brings together the dining area and sitting room, with a sofa and armchairs arranged around the room. Wooden beams and other traditional features give the space plenty of character.
At the far end, patio doors open directly onto the private enclosed garden and apple orchard. Beyond the lawn, the view stretches across the Menai Strait towards the Eryri mountain range, giving you something much better to look at than the average television.
Kitchen
A traditional wooden kitchen with everything needed for a self-catering stay, including the usual appliances and equipment.
Bedroom Two
A spacious twin bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, ample storage and views across the farmland at the front of the cottage. Sheep may make occasional appearances, because apparently even the neighbours here have four legs.
Family Bathroom/ Wetroom
A bathroom with sunken bath and handheld shower, WC and basin.
Utility Room
A separate utility space with washing machine, dryer and iron.
First Floor
Bedroom One
A spacious double bedroom with plenty of storage and far-reaching views across the Menai Strait to the mountains of Eryri. There’s also a TV for lazy mornings in bed, while the generous en-suite has a walk-in shower, WC and basin, with the same incredible views to wake up to.
Outside
The cottage has a private patio leading onto an enclosed lawned garden and apple orchard. There's outdoor space for sitting and enjoying the views, with the Menai Strait and mountains of Eryri visible beyond the garden.
A tree-lined private driveway provides plenty of off-road parking, with space for three or more cars.
Local Area
Barras sits just outside Brynsiencyn, on the southern side of Anglesey, with the banks of the Menai Strait only a short walk away. Follow the local circular route for views across the water towards Caernarfon Castle and the mountains of Eryri, or join the coastal path for a longer walk towards Newborough and Llanddwyn.
The area is particularly handy for some of Anglesey's best-known attractions. Foel Farm Park is just around the corner, while Anglesey Sea Zoo and Halen Môn are also close by. A little further along the coast, Bryn Celli Ddu is one of Anglesey's most significant prehistoric monuments and well worth a visit.
For food and drink, Y Groeslon in Brynsiencyn is the local pub, while Heritage Coffee Shop, Hooton's Homegrown Farm Shop and Y Marram are all within easy reach. Hooton's is particularly useful for picking up local produce, with baked potatoes among its specialities.
A short drive takes you to Plas Newydd, with its historic house, gardens and Menai Strait views. Head west towards Newborough Forest and Llanddwyn Island for a day on the beach, or cross the Britannia Bridge towards mainland North Wales when you're ready to explore further afield.
