We love the month of May here at Oyster – the weather is getting warmer, the nights are drawing out, and the sea is looking more inviting by the minute. Weather and beaches aside, there are also lots of events happening across North Wales throughout the month, making it a great time to visit and experience some of our warm Welsh hospitality and world-renowned culture. Schools are also out from the 25th until the 29th, promising fresh family memories that you’ll cherish forever. From historic agricultural affairs such as the Nefyn Sioe to celebrations of community cornerstones, here are some of the exciting events happening in North Wales this spring:

Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza
Where? Llandudno Promenade
Dates: 2nd – 4th May 2026
Old time charm is set to take over the streets of Llandudno once again over the early May bank holiday weekend. Expect a Victorian street fair, old-time fair rides, fun stalls, steam engines, people dressed in Victorian costume and street entertainment that the whole family will enjoy.

Sioe Nefyn | Nefyn Show
Where? Botacho Wyn Family fields, opposite the Bryncynan Pub, Nefyn LL53 6HA
Dates: 4th May 2026 (Bank Holiday Monday)
The Nefyn show is a legendary date in the local calendar, and the 2026 edition will be number 128. Originally established in 1893 by a small group of local farmers who wanted to show their horses and livestock, the show is known today as a beloved family and farming bonanza with craft and trade stands, attractions, competitions, fairground rides and much, much more.

FOCUS Wales 2026
Where? Multiple venues across the city of Wrexham, North Wales
Dates: 7th – 9th May 2026
FOCUS Wales is an international music showcase festival & BAFTA-Qualifying film festival, taking over the city of Wrexham for three days in early May. The festival places the music industry spotlight firmly on the emerging talent that Wales has to offer the world, alongside a selection of the best new artists and filmmakers from across the globe.

Ras y Gader | Cadair Idris Race
Where? Race starts and finishes in Dolgellau
Dates: 16th May 2026
Ras y Gader, the Cadair Idris mountain race, is one of the toughest fell races in Wales, and is viewed by many as a classic “must do” race in the calendar – even if you’re not quite up for running up and down a mountain, the atmosphere in Dolgellau itself is fantastic to witness, and the athletes will definitely appreciate your encouragement.

Beaumaris Festival
Where? Various locations in Beaumaris, Anglesey
Dates: 20th – 25th May 2026
The Beaumaris Festival is a celebration of art, classical music, comedy, jazz, opera, poetry, and theatre on the stunning Isle of Anglesey. There are plenty of exciting acts in the 2026 line-up, including the Welsh Chamber Orchestra and Beaumaris Band.

Urdd National Eisteddfod
Where? The Showground, Gwalchmai, Holyhead LL65 4RW, United Kingdom
Dates: 23rd – 29th May 2026
Extending to a full 7 days for the first time ever in 2026, the National Youth Festival of Wales boasts a jam-packed schedule of dance and music, all taking place at Ynys Mon’s showground.
