Don't forget to pack these 15 things when you stay in a self-catering rental this summer!

When preparing for a self-catering holiday, you’ll obviously pack the basics like clothes, toiletries, and perhaps some food. But what about those less obvious items that can make your holiday just that little bit more comfortable and convenient? Here are top 15 suggestions:

Picnic Blanket: Perfect for beach trips, picnics in the countryside, or simply lounging in your holiday home’s garden.

Spare Toilet Rolls: It may seem an odd thing to pack, but you never know when you might need an extra roll or two and holiday cottages will usually only provide one roll per toilet!

Silicone Dog Bowl: If you’re bringing your furry friend along, this collapsible, lightweight bowl is a must-have for when you’re out and about exploring.

Reusable Shopping Bags: Handy for shopping or carrying beach gear, and better for the environment than plastic bags.

First Aid Kit: Always good to have on hand for minor cuts and scrapes. You’ll often be more active whilst on holiday so this is a handy thing to have with you.

Corkscrew/Bottle Opener: Many a holidaymaker has been caught out by a bottle of wine and no way to open it! All our houses will provide these items but you can never go wrong having a spare to take to the beach!

Portable Charger: Great for when you’re out and about and need to charge your phone or other devices.

Local Maps/Guidebooks: While it’s great to explore, having a guide can help you find the best local attractions and eateries. Alternatively head to our concierge pages on our website and we can point you in the right direction.

Travel Adaptors: If you’re travelling from abroad, ensure you can still use your devices with different plug sockets.

Board Games/Card Games: Perfect for a quiet evening in with the family. A lot of our properties will already have games in them so do check with us before packing.

Tupperware: Ideal for storing leftover food or packing picnic lunches.

Laundry Bag: Keeps dirty laundry separate from your clean clothes and make life easy when you get back home after your holiday.

Coffee/Tea: If you’re particular about your brew, bring your own to ensure you have your favourite cuppa ready when you need it.

Spices/Condiments: A few of your favourite seasonings can make all the difference when cooking away from home.

Beach Towels: Even if you’re not planning on swimming, these can double as picnic blankets but most importantlyly keep your holiday cottage towels fresh for when you return from the beach.

Remember, the key to a successful self-catering holiday is to be prepared. So, pack wisely and enjoy your time away!
