A perfect dog-friendly escape with stunning views! We had a wonderful stay at Dolfor, a gorgeous cottage with fantastic views overlooking the Menai Straits. We stayed for a 4 night break along with our two border terriers, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how welcoming and dog-friendly the cottage was. Having a separate utility room to enter through was a total game changer for us —especially after our long walks and muddy/sandy adventures. It meant muddy paws and damp coats never made it into the main house! The Doggy Wash station at the back is a great idea —our dogs loved it (and so did we!). It made post-walk cleanups quick and easy, and it showed how well-equipped this cottage is for four-legged guests. Inside, the cottage was roomy, immaculately clean, and beautifully decorated with a perfect mix of character and comfort. Every room felt light and airy, yet cosy at the same time. One of our favourite moments was sitting down to dinner while looking out over the Straits—truly breathtaking and so peaceful. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back. If you’re looking for a stylish, comfortable, and genuinely dog-friendly cottage with stunning views, this is the one! Thanks, Mike & Katy

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this stunning 3-bedroom fisherman’s cottage overlooking the Menai Strait, and I can honestly say it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty, quality, and warmth of the space. Every inch of the cottage has been lovingly and thoughtfully renovated to an incredibly high standard, blending traditional charm with modern comfort in the most seamless way. Inside, the attention to detail is remarkable. Gorgeous floors run throughout, giving a warm, coastal feel, and the bespoke wood and glass staircase is a real showstopper — stylish, elegant, and perfectly in keeping with the cottage’s character. The living spaces are spacious yet cosy, and the addition of a downstairs toilet is a practical touch that makes family stays even easier. The heart of the home is undoubtedly the large kitchen, which overlooks the ever-changing Menai Strait. Whether you’re cooking up a storm or sipping your morning coffee, the view is utterly mesmerising. Step outside and you’ll find a lovely table, chairs and a bench in the rear courtyard — the perfect spot for breakfast alfresco as the boats drift by and the sun sparkles on the water. The utility room is another bonus — great for sandy shoes or muddy walking boots after exploring the coastal paths. The bedrooms are all beautifully presented, with tasteful decor, high-quality linens, and a serene, restful atmosphere. And the location? Absolutely unbeatable. Tucked away in a peaceful spot but just a short stroll to some fabulous pubs, charming cafes, and brilliant restaurants. Whether you’re after a laid-back pint with a sea view or a fine dining experience, you’re spoilt for choice. In short, this cottage is a slice of coastal heaven. It’s rare to find somewhere so thoughtfully renovated, so perfectly located, and so full of character. We already can’t wait to return!

The Local Area

Anglesey’s Menai Bridge marks the spot where the Isle of Anglesey meets mainland North Wales via the two bridges that stretch across the Menai Strait. With a collection of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, it’s the perfect place to spend a romantic weekend or long-awaited get-together.
From your doorstep, you’re just steps away from RibRide, a boating company offering both scenic and high-octane tours around the island, as well as Dylan’s, the original site of a beloved North Wales restaurant chain. For other epicurean delights, don’t miss & Caws, a deli and cheesemonger's selling the finest artisan, farmhouse cheeses from Wales, the UK and Europe. Other than that, there are plenty of pretty shops for a morning or afternoon mooch.
Whichever direction you take from Menai Bridge, you’ll end up at a beautiful beach. If you turn left and head west, Newborough Nature Reserve and Beach is just 30 minutes by car, while a 17-minute drive as the crow flies will bring you to the expansive Red Wharf Bay with its ancient pub on the beach, the Ship Inn.
