The Local Area
Trearddur Bay is one of Anglesey's best-known seaside spots, with a wide sandy beach, clear sheltered waters and a good choice of places to eat and drink. The Stores is handy for holiday essentials, while Scarlett's Fish & Chips, Sea Shanty and The Driftwood are all within easy reach. The Boathouse also hosts seasonal pop-ups during the summer.
For a quieter stretch of coastline, head to Porth Dafarch, a small cove tucked between Trearddur Bay and Holyhead. The surrounding coastline is great for walking, with plenty of opportunities to stop and take in the views.
Further west, South Stack Lighthouse makes a memorable coastal walk, perched on the cliffs at the edge of Holy Island. Nearby RSPB South Stack is also worth visiting for its seabirds and dramatic clifftop setting.
Penrhos Nature Reserve offers another change of scenery, with woodland, coastal paths and views across Holyhead Bay, while Breakwater Country Park follows the old quarry railway towards Holyhead Mountain.
For another beach day, head south to Rhoscolyn, where you'll find a quieter coastline, rocky coves and the famous White Eagle pub overlooking the sea. Holyhead is also close by for larger supermarkets and anything else you might need during your stay.
