What's On in North Wales This September
North Wales has plenty of things to do in any season, but September is perhaps one of our favourite months in the area thanks to fewer crowds, stunning sunsets and the beginnings of autumnal foliage. Below, we’ve rounded up some September events in North Wales that are simply too good to miss.
Llangollen Fringe Festival, Denbighshire
4th – 13th September 2026
A highly anticipated event in the cultural calendar, Llangollen Fringe Festival brings a variety of talented acts to the stage, including Gwenno, Skinny Lister, Andrew Maxwell and many more. This one is a great excuse to spend some time discovering the beautiful riverside town of Llangollen and the surrounding area, too.
Candlelit Comedy at Gwrych Castle, Conwy
12th September 2026
Enjoy an evening of entertainment in a seriously unrivalled setting – Gwrych Castle. Previously used for I’m a Celebrity… filming and with history reaching back to the 14th & 15th centuries, this is an amazing opportunity to enjoy a slice of stand-up from comedians Brennan Reece, Rachel Baker and Matt Richardson.

From a ‘Sing the Musicals’ event by Massaoke to a Game Tasting Night, Venue Cymru is playing host to the usual variety of shows and experiences. Llandudno itself is also well worth a visit, with a bustling high street, beautiful promenade and plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
Mold Food & Drink Festival, Flintshire
18th – 20th September 2026
A key event in northeast Wales, the Mold Food & Drink Festival turns 20 this year, with special celebrations lined up to commemorate it. On Friday 18th, things will kick off with a night of live music, before the food and drink festivities take over the rest of the weekend. Expect a wealth of Welsh, UK, and international food and drink exhibitors, plus live cooking demos from top local chefs and bakers.
Rat Race’s Sea-to-Summit Ultramarathon, Snowdonia
26th September 2026
Forming part of the epic Rat Race Three Peaks Trilogy, this sea-to-summit ultramarathon starts at Caernarfon Castle and ascends the summit of Wales’ highest mountain – definitely not one for the faint-hearted! With history crammed into every single square mile, North Wales is teeming with awe-inspiring sites managed by both the National Trust and Cadw. Superfeet Sandman Triathlon & Duathlon, Anglesey

The Sandman has a reputation that precedes it, known far and wide as one of the most beautiful and thrilling multi-terrain races in the UK. Starting and ending in the scenic pine forest of Newborough, this is the perfect event for athletes who want to bring along spectators for a beach day.
