Easter Half-Term Events: What’s On in North Wales

Easter is a great time to get out and about with your loved ones. The weather is better, the days slightly longer and shop shelves brim with brightly-coloured chocolate eggs – what’s not to love? In North Wales, where Easter is known as Pasg, it’s common to enjoy the great outdoors after a long winter, admiring the vibrant yellow daffodils and returning home to enjoy hot welshcakes slathered in butter. During half-term, many destinations throughout goggledd Cymru host a range of easter-related activities for little ones to enjoy. We’ve rounded up some top Easter events in North Wales for 2025.  

When is Easter Half-Term? 

In Wales, the Easter Holidays are from the 14th April to 25th April 2025. The dates in England are slightly different, from the 7th April to the 21st April 2025.

Medieval Eggstravaganza, Beaumaris Castle

A Medieval-inspired day-out at an ancient castle, the Easter Eggstravaganza at Beaumaris Castle offers everything you’d expect for a magical, memorable time. Family members of all ages can learn to juggle, use stilts or discover what life was like in Medieval times.There’ll also be an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday and Monday, where you can find the clues, work out the answer and escape the castle to claim your prize.

Cost: Admission prices apply, but no booking is necessary for the event. Free admission for Cadw members.   

Where is it? Beaumaris Castle, Castle St, Beaumaris LL58 8AP

Is there parking available? There is a large carpark adjacent to the castle (LL58 8RA) which is £6 for the day.  

Dog-friendly? Yes, dogs are welcome! 

The Spring Show, Plas Newydd 

Inspired by Plas Newydd’s theatrical history, The Spring Show at Plas Newydd invites you to embark on a journey through the gardens, transformed into a living stage where the beauty of nature itself takes the spotlight.

Date/s: From 5 – 27 April 2025, 9.30am – 5pm, with last entry at 4.30pm.

Cost: Admission prices + £3.50 fior trail map, bunny ears and chocolate egg. Admission is free for National Trust Members and Under 5s.    

Where is it? Plas Newydd House and Garden, Llanfairpwll, Anglesey, LL61 6DQ

Is there parking available? There is a large carpark adjacent to the castle (LL58 8RA) which is £6 for the day.  

Dog-friendly? Dogs on short leads are welcome in all areas of the gardens, except for the Terraces due to the precise planting in this area.

Anglesey Open Studios, Anglesey

Painters, sculptors, photogrpahers, filmakers, printmakers, installation artists, and craft workers will be delighted to welcome you to their studios during the Anglesey Arts Weeks. With over 59 studios and galleries to go and explore this is a real grown up Easter Hunt for the adults.

Date/s: From 12 – 27 April 2025

Cost: The cost is free to head to 59 different locations across Anglesey. See the map here.

Where is it? All across Anglesey. Look out for a guide in a local shop to find out all the information.

Is there parking available? There is a large carpark adjacent to the castle (LL58 8RA) which is £6 for the day.  

Dog-friendly? Dogs are welcome to most studios but please check before heading inside

Easter Events on the Llyn Peninsula

The Llyn Peninsula comes alive at Easter, with bluebells lining the lanes and a vast variety of seabirds coming in to nest. A popular destination for family-holidays to Abersoch, Pwllheli and Nefyn, it’s also host to many Easter events. 

Easter Egg Quest, Caernarfon Castle

The Easter Egg Quest at ancient Caernarfon Castle will transform little ones into official dragon protectors as they race to follow clues and find a precious dragon egg – winning a prize as a reward for doing so. 

Date/s: Sat 19th & Sun 20th April, 10am – 5pm 

Cost: Admission prices apply, but no booking is necessary for the event. Free admission for Cadw members.   

Where is it? Caernarfon Castle, Castle Ditch, Caernarfon LL55 2AY

Is there parking available? There are a number of Pay & Display carparks near to Caernarfon Castle. The closest options are Tan y Bont outdoor car park or Penllyn multi-storey, both of which are £3.30 for up to 3 hours.  

Dog-friendly? No, only guide dogs are allowed at Caernarfon Castle.  

Easter Egg Hunt, Penrhyn Castle 

A ten-point adventure trail ending in a chocolate treat, the Easter Egg Hunt at Penrhyn Castle & Garden gives the entire family a chance to get out and about with a range of activities to complete. There’s an Easter tea party, welly throwing and more to enjoy onsite. 

Trail costs £3.50 per trail. This includes a trail sheet, chocolate egg and activity sheet at the end of the trail.

Date/s: Daily from 5 April until 27 April, or until stocks last.  

Cost: Admission price + £3.50 for trail map and chocolate egg. Admission is free for National Trust Members and Under 5s.   

Where is it? Penrhyn Castle, Bangor, Gwynedd, LL57 4HT

Is there parking available? Yes, onsite parking is available free of charge.  

Dog-friendly? Dogs are welcome across the garden and grounds at Penrhyn Castle. They can also be taken to the visitor reception area and both the Stables and Castle Café, however only assistance dogs are permitted inside the castle.

The Great Easter Eggsperience, Conwy 

The Great Easter Eggsperience is a great option for families looking for an Easter event in North Wales. Join the Easter egg hunt and secure your chocolate prize once you’ve found all the eggs, plant your own carrots to take home, visit the Easter bunny’s grotto and meet adorable bunnies and chicks. Each ticket includes farm park admission.

Cost: Adult tickets £16.95, Children £18.95

Where is it? Manorafon Farm Park, Abergele, Conwy, LL22 8ET

Is there parking available? Yes, Manorafon Farm Park has a private carpark.

Dog-friendly? No, due to their being animals onsite, dogs are not allowed excerpt assistance dogs.  

Easter Egg Hunt, Plas Mawr, Conwy 

Plas Mawr is an authentic Elizabethan townhouse in the heart of historic Conwy. This Easter, visitors can enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt & Fooling Around performance from the Conwy Jester. 

Date/s: Sunday 20th April 10am – 4pm 

Cost: Admission prices apply, but no booking is necessary for the event. Free admission for Cadw members.  

Where is it? Plas Mawr, High St, Conwy LL32 8DE

Is there parking available? Conwy is a bustling medieval harbour town with lots of attractions including the Smallest House in Great Britain so carparks tend to fill quite quickly in peak times. Morfa Bach Carpark (LL32 8FZ) is your best bet, as it has 217 spaces and is just a short walk up through the castle grounds to the centre of Conwy. Up to 4 hours is £4.60.   

Dog-friendly? Assistance dogs only.

Easter Events in Snowdonia

April half term is a fantastic time to bring your children to Snowdonia. There is endless adventure on offer and days out can include authentic highland railway experiences and picnics in the forest. Below you’ll find an easter egg hunt event within easy reach of Snowdonia National Park.  

Easter Egg Hunt, Bodnant Garden

Bodnant Garden Easter Egg Hunt has a special Easter trail and nature-inspired activities designed for the whole family to enjoy. Prices include an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and a chocolate egg. 

Date/s: Daily between 5 – 27 April 2025, 9.30am – 4pm  

Cost: Admission price + £3.50. Admission is free for National Trust Members and Under 5s.   

Where is it? Bodnant Garden, Tal-y-Cafn, near Colwyn Bay, Conwy, LL28 5RE.

Is there parking available? Yes, onsite parking is available free of charge.  

Dog-friendly? Yes – from Sunday to Thursday between 1 April and 30 September. You must keep them on a short lead – not extendable.  

Easter Events elsewhere in North Wales 

North Wales is full of stunning spots to explore, which is why one of these events may well warrant a day trip from your holiday cottage on Anglesey, the Llyn Peninsula or Snowdonia. 

The Great Easter Show, Hawarden 

Inspired by the annual fêtes of historic Hawarden, The Great Easter Show promises fairground rides, live music, face painting, flower crown making, craft market, a luxurious onsite farm shop with cafe and a dog show. 

Date/s: Saturday 19th April, 11am – 6pm 

Cost: £18 per adult and £15 per child. Under 5s are free.  

Where is it? Hawarden Estate, Chester Rd, Hawarden, Deeside CH5 3FB

Is there parking available? There is limited parking available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Car parking spaces can also be reserved for £5 per vehicle.  

Dog-friendly? Yes! You can even register your four-legged friend in one of 10 categories to win a prize at the dog show. 

Easter Egg Hunt, Chirk Castle 

Another North Wales Easter egg hunt at a stunning historic property, the Easter Egg Hunt at Chirk Castle offers an interactive trail inspired by a medieval Welsh legend. Little ones will be tasked with helping a courageous hare find safety through the beautiful gardens and into the castle courtyard. Follow the trail, complete the tasks, and get a chocolate egg as a reward.

Cost: Admission price + £3.50. Admission is free for National Trust Members and Under 5s.   

Where is it? Chirk Castle, Chirk, Wrexham, LL14 5AF.

Is there parking available? Yes, onsite parking is available free of charge.  

Dog-friendly? Yes – Dogs allowed on the estate, but not in the formal gardens, kitchen garden, Pleasure Ground Wood or inside the castle rooms.  

Easter Egg Hunt, Erddig 

Inspired by a children’s storybook housed in their historic library, Erddig Hall’s Easter Egg Hunt promises to be one of unbridled adventure. Follow the tale of a brave boy on his quest to find the legendary pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Can you complete the puzzles and tasks scattered across Erddig’s beautiful grounds to progress on your quest? Will you escape the Wolf’s Lair, where a giant spider’s web threatens to trap you? Can you knock down the pirates’ towering can blockade to clear your path to treasure? Each station offers an exciting new challenge inspired by the story.

Where is it? Erddig, Wrexham, LL13 0YT

Is there parking available? Yes, onsite parking is available free of charge.  

Dog-friendly? Yes – Dogs allowed on the estate, but not inside the house, garden, hayloft restaurant, or the Wolf’s Den natural play area. The only exception to this policy is registered assistance dogs. The grounds offer plenty of fantastic walking routes.
