An Exhilarating Day Out in North Wales: A Sample Itinerary

Deciding on how to best fill your time during a holiday can be a challenging task. Do you want to be constantly active, exploring new places, or would you rather take it easy, enjoying a good book without leaving the comforts of your holiday cottage?

We understand that making this decision is not always easy. However, with our knowledge of North Wales and our concierge service, we can help you make the most of your holiday.

Here is an itinerary of how we might plan a day out for you and your family, making full use of our concierge service.

Please note: This is a packed day out, and we wouldn’t normally recommend trying to fit quite so much into one day.

Itinerary

Pick-up: Your day starts with Hidden Anglesey, a local transport company, picking you up from your holiday cottage. You’ll then be transported into the Welsh mountains of Eryri/Snowdonia.

Hiking in Eryri: You’ll arrive at the beautiful Ogwen Valley where you’ll be met by your guide. You will then embark on a 2-hour hike through the Snowdonia mountains, passing by the mountains of Tryfan and the Glyders.

Visit to Pen Y Gwyryd Hotel: The walk ends at the famous Pen Y Gwyryd Hotel, which hosted the likes of Hilary and Irvin before they embarked on their trip to Everest. You will have a chance for a drink before the next part of your journey.

Lunch at Y Bistro Yn Yr Hebog: You’ll head for a hearty lunch at the Y Bistro Yn Yr Hebog in Beddgelert. This is a great spot, and we recommend visiting Gelert’s grave and, if you’re brave enough, taking a dip in the river.

Welsh Highland Railway Ride: Next, you will board the Welsh Highland Railway, which will take you all the way into Caernarfon, home to the mighty Caernarfon Castle.

Exploration of Caernarfon and Boat Ride: After exploring the town, you’ll be met by Rib Ride, who will take you on a trip along the Menai Strait and on to Llandwyn Island.

Dinner on Llandwyn Island: Here, you’ll be met by a local chef who will prepare a meal for you on the beach. Spend the evening watching the sunset, enjoying scallops, and surrounded by your loved ones.

Return to Your Cottage: As the day ends, enjoy a sunset trip back to your cottage, where you’ll be dropped off at the front door, either by the boat company (if you are located on the beach) or Hidden Anglesey (if you’re driving).

In our opinion, this is probably one of the best days out you could spend in North Wales. We think it’s so good we might even try it ourselves. What’s your best day out in North Wales? Head to our concierge pages to find out more.
