House

A charming North Wales holiday cottage sleeping up to 6, Moorhen Cottage sits within the relaxing scenery of Heron’s Lakeside Retreat in Caerwys. Inside, three bedrooms across two storeys make for plenty of space, while outside you can enjoy peaceful lake views from your very own private hot tub and outdoor dining area.

Ground floor

Living Room
Downstairs, the living room, dining area, and kitchen are all open-plan, creating a welcoming and inviting space equipped with comfortable furniture and conveniences. In the sitting area space, you’ll find two comfy sofas and a Smart TV, while the adjacent dining table has enough room for everyone and sliding doors taking in the outdoor views.
The kitchen, which is separated by a convenient breakfast bar with stools, features a microwave, toaster, washing machine, oven, electric hob, kettle, coffee maker, and dishwasher.
Bedroom 1
Bedroom one features a king-size bed, armchair, wardrobe, and drawer space, with dual aspect windows boasting garden views.
Bedroom 2
Bedroom two is the perfect room for family or friends, with a double and single bed, an armchair, and plenty of storage space. Again, two windows let in plenty of natural light and provide uplifting garden views.
Bathroom
The ground-floor bathroom is the family bathroom with a separate bath and shower, loo and basin.

First floor

Bedroom 3
Upstairs, a small landing leads into another king bedroom which has a wardrobe and a dressing table.
Bathroom
A small bathroom features a loo, basin and shower over a bath to give the upstairs king room an ensuite feel.

Outside

The garden wraps around the entire property, giving you plenty of space and a feeling of privacy. There is a lawn area that your four-legged friends and little ones will love, with two outdoor dining areas at the front and the rear of the cottage. Tucked discreetly at the side of the cottage, your private hot tub awaits on a wooden deck, beneath fairy lights strung over a pergola frame.

The Local Area

Moorhen Cottage is located at Heron’s Lake Retreat in the wilds of North Wales. Just a short distance from the pretty village of Caerwys, the area is known for its stunning scenery, fantastic walks, and great local pubs - our favourites include The Dinorben and the Piccadilly Inn.
If you can bear to tear yourself away from the relaxing lake views and abundant nature onsite, the historic towns of Mold and Denbigh are within a short driving distance. Mold holds a market every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 am until 3 pm - make sure to pay the Le Petit Gascon stall a visit for the most delicious French pastries. You’ll also find Theatre Clwyd on the outskirts of the town, which is a fantastic venue for drama, comedy, film, art, and other performances.
If it’s leisurely walks you’re after, there are various trails across Moel Arthur nearby, as well as sections of the Offa’s Dyke Path. Talacre Beach is just a short drive away and is a lovely sandy stretch with a lighthouse and vast dunes, while the likes of Chester, Llangollen, and Betws-y-Coed are perfect for bigger days out.
